Ex-New Ulm city manager interim in Willmar

WILLMAR — Former New Ulm city manager Brian Gramentz will serve as interim city administrator for Willmar.

According to the West Central Tribune, the Willmar City Council unanimously hire Gramentz as interim city administrator to replace outgoing administrator Ike Holland.

Gramentz served as New Ulm’s city manager for 17 years and left the position in November 2018 after a separation agreement between him and the New Ulm City Council.

After leaving the position as city manager, Gramentz said he would be willing to serve as an interim city manager for a small city in need.

Willmar is located 80 miles northwest of New Ulm and has a population of 19,000.

The interim contract requires Gramentz to work three days a week at an annual $87,360 salary and pays lodging costs and mileage between New Ulm and Wilmar.

Gramentz is expected to work at least six months as the interim administrator.
