SPIRIT LAKE — The New Ulm Battery recently made their annual trip to Spirit Lake, Iowa. The battery has visited the town as part of the 8th-grade Civil War program.

The annual visit to the school was first organized by longtime battery member Jerry Fastenow. Spirit Lake is his hometown. Each year the Spirit Lake community sponsors the batteries visit.

The battery will be back in town for Memorial Day weekend. The battery will march in Monday’s Memorial Day parade and will fire off rounds during the program at the city cemetery.
