Officers stop 31 drivers Monday

NEW ULM — Law enforcement officers with the New Ulm Police Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol stopped 31 drivers for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk Monday.

The Stop For Me campaign began Monday to target drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians while crossing intersections.

Community volunteers assisting with the project included Brown County Public Health, the Heart of New Ulm, Allina of New Ulm, the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety and the Toward Zero Deaths program.

New Ulm Police plan to have more Stop For Me events including focusing on distracted driving, at various community locations at various city locations in the coming months.
