NEW ULM — A minor vehicle accident near 1720 Westridge Rd. ended with a death Wednesday morning.

Douglas Melvin Walter, 67, of New Ulm, died due to a medical condition while driving. Walters was driving a 2014 Nissan Altima eastbound on Westridge Road along the outside area of the Walmart parking lot. His vehicle veered left, crossed over the center line and went onto the curb of a boulevard. The vehicle struck a small tree and continued for a short distance. Damage to the vehicle was minor, but Walters was unconscious in the vehicle and appeared to have suffered from a medical condition.

According to the report, Walter did not appear to have any injuries from the crash. He was later pronounced dead at New Ulm Medical Center.
