Four generations of the Schaefer family, all of whom have attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Elementary School (right), are among several groups that took turns to break symbolic ground for a major addition to the school Sunday. The groundbreaking service was attended by several hundred people.
Pastors Jeff Bovee of St. John’s Lutheran Church (front left) and Nate Scharf of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (front, right) begin the ceremonial groundbreaking which followed a special service in the St. Paul’s school gym, as St. Paul’s school Principal Peter Markgraf ((back left) and VIPs (in the tent) look on.
Each class at St. Paul’s Lutheran Elementary School decorated a shovel, and a class representative (pictured with shovel) was assigned to break ground for an addition that will include a pre-school center, new entry and many other changes. About $2.6 million has been raised so far for the project after a six-year campaign.
