RENVILLE COUNTY — The Brown/Lyon/Redwood/Renville Drug Task Force ended an investigation that led to the arrest of Donald Jay Braaten, 37, from Echo, this week.

Braaten was wanted on a felony arrest warrant out of Lyon County. Information led Agents to the City of Granite Falls, where they observed Braaten enter a vehicle. Agents were able to follow Braaten to Sacred Heart in Renville County. With the assistance of the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Braaten was taken into custody without incident.

After the arrest, a search warrant was executed on the vehicle Braaten was transported in. During the search, a .45 caliber handgun with ammunition was located on the floor in the area where Braaten was seated. Also located in the search was a small amount of methamphetamine and many items to use the substance. The investigation resulted in Braaten being charged with five felony charges, including possession of a firearm and ammunition, first-degree sale of controlled substance and other charges of controlled substances. Braaten was charged and will be prosecuted through the Renville County Attorney’s Office.
