WINTHROP — Sibley County Act on Alzheimer’s presenting a new musical show, “Remember When – American Top 40 – The Hits from the 60s and 70s, Groovy Tunes and Far Out Stories from the 60s and 70s,” starring Pat and Donna Surface.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Sibley County Act On Alzheimer’s
The show will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Hahn’s Family Dining in Winthrop.
Social hour begins at 5 p.m., with dinner at 6 p.m. and the show at 7 p.m.
The cost per ticket is $20, which includes a two-meat buffet dinner.
Pat and Donna’s popular show, “Remember When,” is a tribute to the hit songs and iconic artists of the 50s, 60s and 70s, woven with riveting back-stories, relatable and hysterical husband-wife banter, Donna dramatically interpreting the songs with Performance Sign Language, and the audience gets to sing (and sign) along.
“We are very excited about this show,” Donna Surface says, “It is so much fun — entertaining, interactive, with great music, stories, comedy, segments like ‘Name That Tune’ with groovy love beads as prizes — and I’m interpreting the songs in Performance Sign Language. It is very unique. Audiences tell us it is like nothing they have seen before. They really enjoy revisiting songs they couldn’t wait to hear on the radio or from their beloved vinyl LPs back in the day.”
Although this show is extremely entertaining, it is being presented for a cause very close to Donna’s heart.
“I lost my dad to Alzheimer’s following a very ‘long goodbye.’ We love performing for events like this that help people on a similar journey. Pat and I are committed to supporting organizations that enhance the quality of life of those afflicted with Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia. Our efforts are aimed at the many concerns and worries of family members and caregivers, and our focus is on the dignity of each individual.”
Pat and Donna will also be performing for the residents, their families, and the community at the following facilities on Friday, Oct. 26: Southview Living Center, Gibbon 1 p.m.; Good Samaritan Society, Winthrop 3 p.m. and Fairfax Community Home, Fairfax, 7pm
