New Ulm firefighters were called to a fire at the B&J Laundromat on Center Street in New Ulm Thursday morning about 7 p.m. Fire Chief Paul Macho said the fire apparently started on the main floor by the side door, and extended into the upper floor. One resident of an upstairs apartment was home at the time and escaped safely. Smoke spread throughout several adjoining buildings.
