The Tunnel Car Wash officially opens

Jensen Motors officially celebrated the grand opening of The Tunnel car was at 2525 S. Broadway in New Ulm. The New Ulm Wilkommen Committee held a ribbon cutting ceremony to recognize the accomplishment on Thursday. Above, New Ulm Mayor Robert Beussman (center) cuts the ribbon with owners Rick and Joan Jensen to his left. The Jensens have seen similar car wash operations, using equipment designed by Belanger, Inc. of Detroit and felt there would be a welcome addition in New Ulm. The Tunnel opened in March, but gone through some adjustments to get the right RO and water softening equipment, and the drying equipment properly situated. The Tunnel can hold three cars at a time. Cars are pre-treated by employees with wands who apply bug solvent and pre-soak. The wash uses 14 different soaps and chemicals in addition to lots of water, and the wash takes a little under three minutes. Customers can purchase whatever level wash they want when they pull up, or can purchase a certificate for unlimited use for a full month. Hours for The Tunnel are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The car wash will be open this weekend until 7 p.m. as part of the grand opening.
