St. Paul man jumps from Hwy. 93 overpass onto US 169
LE SUEUR — A 48-year-old St. Paul man was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center early in the morning of July 22 after he jumped from the Highway 93 overpass onto U.S. Highway 169.
The Sibley County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suicidal male threatening to jump from the overpass at 4:29 a.m. July 22. Officers on scene attempted to negotiate with Ross A. Sveback to prevent him from jumping. All roads leading to the area were closed by law enforcement at the time.
Sveback fell from the overpass and landed on Highway 169 at 5:20 a.m. Officers and medical personnel provided immediate medical attention to Sveback. He was transported by ambulance to the Le Sueur Hospital, then airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center for further medical attention.
Assisting agencies included Le Sueur, Belle Plaine and St. Peter Police, the Le Sueur, Nicollet and Scott County Sheriff’s Offices, the Minnesota State Patrol and Ridgeview Ambulance.
