NEW ULM — Thrivent Financial and New Ulm Park and Rec joined forces to sponsor a Family Fun Night June 21.

The Family Fun Nigh was to be held in German Park but weather concerns forced it indoors at the Civic Center. Despite the relocation several families attended the event.

Kids tried the Minnesota National Guard rock climbing wall. Rec on the Go brought a variety of activities for the kids. A bounce house entertained the youngest kids.

The fair also included booths for several area non-profit groups. One table had volunteers putting together summer survival kits for area kids in need. These baskets will be distributed by Brown County Family Services and ProKinship for Kids.

Amy Pearson with Thrivent said this was the third fair event they have hosted. Last summer, they held an event which included care packages for the military. In January, there was a Valentine’s-themed fair.

“Our mission is to live generously,” Pearson said. “The fair gives non-profits a place to get the word out.”
