Hot Topics lunch this Friday to focus on RENU topics

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Hot Topics Lunch: RENU Update this Friday.

The City of New Ulm has obtained Minnesota State authorization to spend up to an additional $14,800,000 of its half-percent local option sales tax revenue on seven projects: indoor water park and safety improvements to the existing indoor pool, indoor playground, wellness center, gymnastics facility, multi-purpose dome, Johnson Park grandstand improvements and Hermann Heights Park entrance road and parking improvements.   Hear the latest status of the projects schedule, including committee structures and design process. Speakers will include Tom Schmitz, Director, Department of Park and Recreation; Brian Gramentz, City Manager, City of New Ulm; and Larry Mack, RENU Oversight Committee’s City Council Representative.

The Hot Topics lunch will be at the New Ulm Country Club from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, May 11.

The New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce has a membership of over 350 businesses including New Ulm’s largest employers, retailers, professional services and interested individuals. The Chamber’s mission is to support and strengthen their members by developing and promoting the business community in New Ulm. Each year, their Business Action Team identifies initiatives or topics that would be of interest to the business community, chamber members and the community as a whole. Past Hot Topics events have included speakers from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, Bill Blazar from the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, an update on the child care situation in Brown County and legislative session previews. Hot Topics are open to the community and all are encouraged to attend.
