New Ulm in competition for Best Minnesota Town

NEW ULM–New Ulm has been selected as a finalist in the Minnesota Monthly “Best Minnesota Town” contest.

A total of 31 Minnesota towns submitted themselves for nomination and the editors of Minnesota Monthly narrowed the list down to 10 finalists. In addition to New Ulm the list of finalists includes Duluth, Hopkins, Waconia, St. Cloud, Grand Marais, Bemidji, Owatonna, Austin and Walker.

The top Minnesota town wins a marketing package valued at $50,000. This marketing package includes a editorial feature on the winning city for Minnesota Monthly, assistance with PR outreach, a Gubernatorial Proclamation for the winning town and Minnesota Monthly will throw a party in the town.

The winning Minnesota town will be selected through an online vote that ends after Friday, Oct. 13. Those who want to vote can vist the link http://bestmntown.com/. Each vote submitted must have a valid email. The website will accept 10 votes each day from an individual email.

As of Oct. 6 the city of Bemidji is leading the public vote with 19.6 percent of the vote. New Ulm is currently eighth in voting with 4 percent of the total vote; however there is still a week of voting remaining before a winner is announced.
