NEW ULM — Bob Wise, Chairman of the Grants Committee of the New Ulm Area Foundation (NUAF), recently announced the grants awarded for the Spring 2017 grant cycle at a ceremony held at the Grand Center for Arts and Culture in New Ulm.
All grant applications are reviewed by the committee and recommendations are made to the NUAF Advisory Board for the final decision. This grant cycle the Foundation awarded grants totaling $23,100 and another $9,000 in second payments for grants awarded in 2016.
Each grant recipient gave a brief overview of their project. Grants were given in the focus areas of Arts, Education, Economic Development and Historic Preservation.
Applications for the fall 2017 grant cycle are due August 15. See the NUAF website for details: newulmareafoundation.org.

Grants from the Henry Somsen Fund
Grand Center for Arts and Culture – $800; Initial phase for concepts and proposal for wall mural.
Lafayette Charter School – $2,500; Assistance in launch of robotics technology.
Bavarian Blast – $2,500; 2017 German Festival.

Kids X-Cel Center – $1,000; Add arts component to Kids Kamp 2017.
Pro Kinship for Kids – $3,000; New Ulm Academic Mentoring Program.

Brown County Historical Society – $4,000; 2nd Installment for Loyalty and Dissent Exhibit.
Hermann Monument Society – $3,000; HermannFest 2017.

New Ulm Film Society – $2,000; 2017 Minnesota Filmmaker Series.
St. Stephen’s Human Services – $1,500; Reality Road Show on Homelessness
Milford Township – $5,000; 2nd Installment for Milford Township Renovation Project.
