Verizon gives away 75 free backpacks for back-to-school

NEW ULM – Friday morning local Verizon Wireless Premium Retailer, BeMobile, participated in the annual back-to-school backpack giveaway. The BeMobile store located at 1609 S. Broadway gave away dozens of backpack filled with elementary school supplies such as folders, pencils, crayons, markers and glue. The backpack also contain free tokens for ice cream treats.

For many families its a quick an easy way for the family to jump start the back-to-school shopping.

The promotion began at 10 a.m. Friday and within 10 minutes nearly 30 backpacks were given away. Store employee Alicia Listner, said a line of customers has formed outside the store before the giveaway started.

For many of the kids this was their first chance to pick out a backpack of their own. Kayden Fleck will be going into Kindergarten this year and was excited to have a backpack to call his own. As a pre-schooler, he borrows his brother’s hand-me-down backpack, but thanks to the free giveaway both Fleck brother can upgrade to the red Verizon bag.
