Nicollet County resident says overweight semi trucks using gravel roads
ST. PETER – A rural Nicollet resident voiced concerns with township road traffic at the Nicollet County Board of Commissioners meeting Tuesday.
Cedric Thom, rural Nicollet, said township roads are inundated with traffic due to the U.S Highway 14 construction. Thom said gravel roads are being used as alternate routes and he would like to see the County help subsidize townships with travel and the cost of road grading.
The township is tracking the amount of gravel added to roads and the amount of time spent grading roads. Thom said a large number of overweight semi trucks are using township gravel roads.
Commissioners agreed to ask Public Works Director Seth Greenwood and County Sheriff Dave Lange to contact the township about the issues.
