Two local teams qualified for state competition in Senior High Knowledge Bowl after participating in the regional finals in Mankato on Tuesday. MVL Opal placed second, and New Ulm High School Amethyst placed fourth.

The state contest is April 13-14 at Cragun’s Resort in Brainerd. The top five (out of 114 teams in the region and 27 regional qualifiers) advanced to state.

Other qualifying teams came from Mankato West, Tri-City United and Fairmont.
