Tens of thousands flee Aleppo in Syria

ALEPPO, Syria (AP) — Syrian authorities have warned civilians to leave a contested area in Aleppo as clashes between government and Kurdish forces intensify. On Thursday, a corridor was opened for evacuation. The government set a deadline for residents to leave before military operations begin. Nearly 140,000 people have been displaced, with many facing medical issues. Fighting has resulted in civilian and military casualties on both sides. Churches are sheltering displaced families. The clashes occur amid stalled political negotiations between the Syrian government and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces. The United Nations and the U.S. have called for restraint and dialogue.
