Court Proceedings

Brown County

District Court

• Two felony financial transaction card fraud charges was filed Sept. 25, 2023 against Laura Sue Randall, 50, 1108 17th St. N., New Ulm. A Zoom hearing was set for 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023.

According to court documents, New Ulm Police Patrol Officer Tyler Forrest talked with an alleged victim about a theft report Sept. 5, 2023 who said Randall stole her credit card information and made about $900 in fraudulent charges to “Chuma,” an online gambling service, on his Aspire MasterCard.

The victim said several days earlier, he met Randall at her New Ulm residence and she helped him attached his credit card to his phone app so he could use it and that Randall copied his credit card information.

Randall admitted to the victim that she was responsible for the charges and initially agreed to make payments to him for the charges. The victim said Randall initiated two payements she cancelled before they were processed. When he asked her about it, he said she begged him not to report her and that she would pay him.

Officer Forrest later received screenshots from the victim of his credit card transaction history showing the Chuma Gold Coins transactions ranging from $5 to $100. Randall was convicted of gross misdemeanor check forgery Oct. 28, 2022 in Brown County Court.
