Brown County District Court

• A felony theft charge was filed against Naomi J. Hatfield, 28, 414 N. Jefferson St., New Ulm. According to court documents, New Ulm Police Sgt. Aaron Lewandowski met with a Walmart Asset Protection witness who said he was investigating thefts from April 27 to June 28, 2023 and identified 18 thefts involving Hatfield with a total of $1,384.08 in lost products.

The witness said he was first tipped off by a self checkout host who saw Hatfield skip scanning items at the self checkout at all of her Walmart transactions.

The witness said Hatfield entered Walmart on June 30, 2023 and was issued a trespass letter from being in the store. The witness provided copies of videos from all transactions of stolen items that added up to $1,316.21 and said there were other stolen items but he was unable to positively identify them.
