Brown County District Court

• A felony 3rd-degree drug possession cocaine and two gross misdemeanor 5th-degree drug possession cocaine, resinous marijuana were filed July 17, 2023 against Natalie Vertin, 21, 305 34d Ave. S.E., Fairfax.

According to court documents, New Ulm Police Patrolman Andrew Kuester was on patrol at 9:54 p.m., July 15, 2023 when he noticed a vehicle traveling 38 mph in a 30 zone and had a taillight and brake light not working and stopped the vehicle, a tan 2008 Honda CRV in front of the Pollinator Park, 2250 N. Broadway.

Officer Kuester approached the vehicle, identified the driver as Vertin and smelled a faint marijuana odor coming from it. Officer Kuester asked if there was a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle and Vertin produced a clear, plastic vile that appeared to be a pre-rolled marijuana cigarette.

A vehicle search turned up a marijuana grinder, small, metal pipe with burnt residue, two electronic delivery devices with suspected marijuana, one of which appeared to have more than .25 grams and the other less than .25 grams.

New Ulm Police Patrolman Cory Lyons he found a suspected controlled substance, white and powder-like that NIK tested positive for cocaine. Vertin was arrested for controlled substance possession. The suspected cocaine weighed 0.15 grams.
