• Felony 5th-degree drug possession-not small amount marijuana and petty misdemeanor drug possess/sale small amount marijuana charges were filed May 4, 2023 against James D. Wrobleski, 31, 1427 S. Broadway, New Ulm. According to court documents, New Ulm Police Sgt. Chip Rasche was eastbound on 7th Street N. near the Front Street roundabout at 11:41 p.m. April 17, 2023 when he noticed two vehicles traveling west towards him, the Blazer pushing the Mustang.

Sgt. Rasche saw a driver of one of the vehicles, an older, dark Mustang, exit. Sgt. Rasche smelled a marijuana odor coming from the vehicle. Rasche identified the driver of the other vehicle, a Trailblazer as the Mustang driver’s mother, that was pushing the Mustang.

Rasche smelled a strong marijuana odor and saw a small paper cylinder in the center console which he recognized as a way to transport marijuana and aide in consuming it. Rasche recognized a passenger in the Trailblazer as Wrobleski.

When asked, Wrobleski admitted the marijuana items were his including several paper cylinders, empty rolling papers commonly used to wrap marijuana, sealable bags with budded marijuana, a black marijuana grinder, loose marijuana and a small marijuana vape with a full marijuana concentrate cartridge attached. Total weight of the marijuana was 3.4 grams.

Wrobleski was convicted of synthetic cannabinoid possession in Kandiyohi County on April 8, 2019.
