Brown County District Court

• A gross misdemeanor violation of a restraining order charge was filed Aug. 16 against Lazarous L. Thomas, 308 S. Front, New Ulm. Court was set for 1:30 p.m. Aug. 22.

According to court documents, a New Ulm police officer fielded a phone call March 20 from a victim regarding a harassment restraining order violation against Thomas effective until Nov. 15, 2023, issued Nov. 16, 2021. The victim said she got a text message from Thomas’ mother indicating he was trying to communicate with her.

Lieder got an HRO copy, stating he shall have no direct or indirect contact with the victim, who showed police a March 20 text she got from Thomas. His mother said Thomas wanted to know if the victim could meet him somewhere so he can see the boys or do a video chat.

Thomas has a previous domestic violence-related conviction on Oct. 29, 2018, in Martin County Court.
