Brown County District Court

• Misdemeanor charges of domestic assault and two counts of disorderly conduct were filed March 11 against Samantha I. Olvera. 601 1/2 1st Avenue N., Sleepy Eye. A pre-trial hearing was set for 10 a.m., April 16, 2021.

According to the complaint, Sleepy Eye Police were dispatched to a domestic assault at 601 1/2 1st Avenue N on March 10. A male caller reported he locked Olvera out of the house because she was threatening him with a fork and he was inside the house with an infant.

Olvera told police she “just wanted her baby” as she left the house. Officers saw the man holding a baby in an upstairs window. Entering the house, police saw multiple forks and a butter knife at the bottom of the stairs.

The man told police Olvera was in New Ulm, came home when he was feeding the child and said Olvera got upset because he had a friend over, then threw things at him while he was feeding their child.

The man said he tried to leave when Olvera removed the silverware holder from the drawer and threw it at him, although none of the items hit him or the child. Then Olvera chased the man with a fork, which scared him because he said she stabbed him before.

In addition, the man said Olvera threatened to kill him while she was trying to get into the apartment.

Brown County dispatch verified to police that they could hear Olvera yelling during the phone call and at one point, the man yelled something to her.

Olvera was arrested and taken to the Brown County Jail. Her bail was set at $1,000 without conditions, no bail with conditions.
