• Two counts of gross misdemeanor 2nd-degree DWI and misdemeanor open bottle were filed Friday against Macie R. McAlpine, 40, 613 2nd South St., New Ulm.

According to court documents, New Ulm Police were dispatched at 7:58 p.m. Aug. 11 for a crash at 10th Street South and Minnesota Street.

Police identified McAlpine at the scene in a vehicle, wearing a seat belt, up against the rear bumper of a legally parked vehicle registered to Chad Cooreman who said he saw McAlpine appear to try to park, then crash into his vehicle.

McAlpine told police she didn’t drink that night, then said she drank a lot that day. She displayed intoxication clues. She was unable to perform certain field sobriety tests and refused a preliminary breath test.

Police found an open bottle of vodka in the back seat of McAlpine’s vehicle and McAlpine was arrested for DUI. She was transported to the Brown County Law Enforcement Center. A breath sample for analysis showed an alcohol concentration of .28 grams per 210 liters of breath. Her driving record indicated she had a qualified, prior impaired driving incident on or after April 26, 2011.
