• Charges including felony threats of violence, domestic assault-felony and possession of drug paraphernalia were filed July 27 against Sean C. Johnson, no address. A bail hearing on Zoom wa set for 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 28.

According to court documents, Springfield Policewere called to a domestic at the Rothenburg Campground, 33 S. Cass Ave. on Sunday. At the scene, several people were standing around a woman kneeling on the ground, who repeatedly said “stay away from me.”

Another woman told polie she is camping and heard the woman screaming for help, then ran up to her. The alleged victim said she was in the tent with Johnson who started beating her and threatened to kill her. She was crying, visibly shaking and had blood on her lips and the lip was swollen.

Police called for an ambulance because the victim was showing signs of shock and said her head hurt. The woman said she was hit in the head several times, Johnson grabbed her throat and pushed her down. She said she bit him when he was on top of her. Police noticed bruises on her arm, she said were from Johnson when she tried to block his punches.

Police arrested Johnson and transported him to the Brown County Jail. A glass pipe commonly used for marijuana smoking was found in his shorts pocket.

Johnson was convicted of violating an order for protection.
