• Darren G. Trickel, 25, 112 W. Main Street, La Salle, was charged with gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI; DWI – alcohol concentration 0.08 within 2 hours; and misdemeanor carrying pistol under influence of alcohol; carrying pistol 0.10 or more and speeding.

According to court documents, Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Derek Shaw observed a vehicle in CR 13, near 220th Street that appeared to be traveling faster than the 55 mph speed limit at 10:02 p.m. Feb. 23. Shaw measured the vehicle’s speed at 66 mph using radar, pursued it and got a speed of 70 mph while closing the distance before stopping the suspect, Trickel.

Shaw observed intoxication clues on Trickel who failed certain field sobriety tests. A preliminary breath test sample measured .261 and Trickel was arrested. Two breath samples provided at 10:30 p.m. measured .22.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Bauer inventoried Trickel’s vehicle and found a black pistol below the steering console.
