Court Proceedings

Brown County

District Court

• Ashley A. Roulet, 28, 206 Summit Ave., Hanska, was charged with felony issue dishonored check and gross misdemeanor issue dishonored check. According to court documents, New Ulm Police got paperwork from Menard’s about dishonored checks presented to their store by Roulet. The checks were for $243.84 dated Jan. 30, 2019 and $301.22 dated Feb. 2, 2019 for a total amount of $545.06.

Menard’s provided still photos from surveillance footage of the transactions that occurred in New Ulm.

A police investigator reviewed Roulet’s physical descriptors and believed the person in the surveillance video matched the parameters, then compared her signature on her DVS record to that on the check and found many similarities.

The investigator called Roulet and was told she wrote the checks and was in treatment when she received a letter from Menards about them and planned to set up a payment plan after finishing treatment on April 15. A Menards employee told the investigator on Aug. 16 that the company gave Roulet until June 31, 2019 to pay the full amount but she never showed up to make payment.
