• Shaylie M. Hoffman, 28, 720 Maple St. S.W., Sleepy Eye, was charged with misdemeanor domestic assault, obstruction of legal process-interfere with peace officer and disorderly conduct July 3.
According to the complaint, Sleepy Eye Police were dispatched to 720 Maple St. S.W. at 5:55 a.m., July 2. David Ludewig told police his girlfriend, Hoffman, got into an argument with him over the electric bill earlier that morning. Ludewig said she hit him on the head several times with a hairbrush.
Hoffman told police she got into an argument and admitted grabbing a phone from him. Police observed a scratch on his neck where he said she scratched him and a mark on his left elbow he said was from a hair brush.
Police tried to arrest Hoffman but she walked away and said she was going to work and “this wasn’t going to happen.” Police later handcuffed her. Ludewig is a “family or household member” of Hoffman under Minnesota Statute 518B0.01 in that they reside together or have resided together and are involved in a significant romantic or sexual relationship.
She was released on her own recognizance. Interim conditions were to have no contact with victims. A pre-trial hearing was set for 2:15 p.m., Aug. 1.
