Court Proceedings

Brown County

District Court

• Megan M. Roberts, 29, 300 6th Ave. S.E., Sleepy Eye, was charged with two counts of gross misdemeanor DWI, operate motor vehicle under influence of alcohol and alcohol concentration 0.08 within two hours Tuesday.

According to court documents, Sleepy Eye Police were on duty at 3:59 a.m. May 4 when they observed a vehicle make a wide right turn from Walnut St. S.E. onto 6th Avenue S.E., going south in the northbound lane, nearly hitting a curb, then corrected.

Police stopped the vehicle and Roberts got out of an SUV and began walking toward Meadowview Apartments. Police told her to stop walking but she continued until police grabbed her right forearm between her wrist and elbow. Police detected intoxication clues. Roberts refused to walk to the squad car as directed until police grabbed both of her arms behind her back.

Roberts asked police to let her go because she could not get another DWI. She failed certain field sobriety tests. A Preliminary Breath Test registered a .223 breath alcohol concentration (BAC) at 4:13 a.m. Roberts was arrested and transported to the Brown County Law Enforcement Center. She agreed to provide a breath test that read .20 at 4:58 a.m. She was transported to the Brown County Evaluation Center due to her high intoxication level.

Roberts’ record revealed a prior DWI on Nov. 4, 2014.
