• Michael D. Wegner, 46, 212 Brown St. W., Comfrey, was convicted of gross misdemeanor issue dishonored check May 1. According to court documents, Comfrey Police got a recorded phone message from a Farmward Cooperative accounts manager on Feb. 8. Police returned the call and learned the manager wanted to report her company received a check returned for non-sufficient funds for $299.25 from Wegner and his business-Mike’s Market, for propane.

The manager was informed certain items needed to be sent to Wegner by traceable mail. Police sent the manager a package of the forms. After the certified mail sent to Wegner was unclaimed, the packet was forwarded to Comfrey Police who presented a demand for information to Choice Financial Bank in Comfrey, where the check was written from.

A review of the forms showed Wegner did not have sufficient funds in the account to cover the check he issued Nov. 6, 2017, which is also when the propane was delivered.
