Area Special Olympics gets Lions donation
NEW ULM — The Lion’s Club donated a $1,000 to the New Ulm area Special Olympics Friday.
Lion’s Club member Keith Richter said following a presentation from the local Special Olympics board, the New Ulm area Lion’s were impressed and approve the donation.
Special Olympics board member Bryce Boelter said it was excited to receive donations for the first Special Olympic events in three years. The pandemic prevented Special Olympic activities over the last few years.
Boelter said they will hold two local events next month to register participants. The first event is a bowling competition May 1 at the Kegel Klub at 1 p.m. A bean bag tournament will be held May 21 at North Park.
These local events will help determine participation levels and how many Special Olympic teams New Ulm will have for the games this summer.
