Spring into art at youth art exhibit
The Grand Center for Arts & Culture is presenting a youth art exhibit from May 6-June 3 in the 4 Pillars Gallery.
This art show is open to children grades pre-K through sixth. Artwork must have been completed during the past year and can be of any subject. All forms of art are encouraged, from finger painting to watercolor, sculpture or pottery.
Students are invited to submit artwork at The Grand Center for Arts & Culture, 210 N. Minnesota St. in New Ulm, on April 21-22 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and April 23 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Children are allowed to enter up to two pieces of artwork each. All entries will be accepted. There is no fee to submit art.
Artwork should be “hang ready,” meaning that artwork is framed or canvases have an attached wire so that the work is ready to hang on the wall.
When artwork is dropped off, artists will need to fill out a contact form and determine if they want to list the item for sale or not for sale. The artist will receive 70% of the sale price, and The Grand will receive 30%. Items sold at The Grand help support operations.
A blue-ribbon prize will be given in each grade category: pre-K – kindergarten, Grades 1-2, grades 3-4, and grades 5-6.
An opening reception in the artists’ honor will he held on May 6 at 5 p.m. Winners will be announced between 5:15 and 5:30 p.m.
