Park & Rec Report

Swim Lesson Registration is open online or in person at the Rec Center for all sessions. Offerings/sessions can be viewed online at newulmmn.org The next sessions begin March 19 (Saturdays) and March 22 (Tuesday and Thursdays).

Recreational Swim Club offers swimmers the opportunity to build muscle, speed, strength and improve endurance while swimming in a fun and safe environment! The club focuses on teaching stroke refinement and training swimmers in a team setting. Swim Club meets Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30-5 p.m. The next session starts March 22. Participants must be at least 8 years old and have completed Level 4 swim lessons. Register online or in person at the Rec Center.

Adult Swim Lessons will be offered Wednesdays March 16 through April 20 from 6:15-7:15 p.m. The class is set up to meet the needs of its participants and will progress accordingly. Register at the Rec Center or online.

Strength Training Basics – designed to teach proper technique for movements that will progress you through the big 3; squat, bench press and deadlift. Learn tools to help you design your own strength training program, taught by certified Personal Trainer, Travis! Class offered Thursdays; March 24 through April 28 from 6-7 p.m. at the Rec Center. $39 Res/$42.90 Non-resident Registration fee required at newulmmn.gov

Lifeguard Certification Blended Learning Course is being offered March 25-27 at the Rec Center. Completed 5-7 hours of online training prior to the start of class March 25. $199 Residents/$219 Non-Residents. Must be at least 15 years old by March 27. Register online at newulmmn.gov by March 20. Spring Garage Sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 2 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Shop lots of sales under 1 roof! We have tables available for sale as well! Stop by the Rec Center to reserve your spot!

Summer Program Registration will being April 13. Brochure will be released early April.

Summer Seasonal Positions are open through March 27. Apply online newulmmn.gov. Several position open for Program Aide, Game Official (Softball) and Skilled Laborer. Part time Lifeguard and Personal Trainer positions are open continuously.

Memorial/Gift Giving Ideas -purchase paver stone(s) with inscription(s), in the walkways near Hermann Monument and/or German Park for $200 each, contact Park & Rec at 359-8344. Park or trail benches range in price from $1,500 to $3,500 each, call 359-8344.

Facility Open/activity Hours:

Rec Center: Normal hours are Monday through Friday 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Daily admission fees are $7 for youth (4-11) and seniors (55+), $9 general admission (12-54) and $3 for playground or walking track only. (There may be short track due to programs and rentals on the courts) There is no open gym Wednesday nights after 7 p.m. until volleyball league is over (late March). Clean shoes only, benches are provided in the lobby and lockers are available for day use in the locker rooms, must provide own lock. We offer several membership options, including discounted punch cards that work well for families; inquire at the welcome desk.

Indoor Playground open during Rec Center hours. Shoes must be removed and socks are required and available for purchase $2 per pair.

Open Swim hours: There is no open swim this Friday, March 11. Open swim on Saturday, March 12 will be from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. ( and Sunday, March 13 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Please note that from 11-12:30, the slides will be closed, from 12:30-2:30 the climbing wall and zip’n will be closed and from 2:30-4 p.m., the Ninja Cross will be closed. Next week we will presume our regular hours: Monday and Wednesday from 4-6:30 p.m. (Zero depth/shallow pool only), Friday 4-8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Adult Basketball Open Gym Tuesdays 5:30 to 7:30 a.m. and Saturdays 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Pickleball Monday through Friday 12:30-2:30 p.m. and Saturdays 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

24/7 Fitness Center access available to annual members by purchasing a key fob for $26 and annual service fee of $28! Access must be set up Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Civic Center open activities

Open skating and open hockey are posted on our website. New days/times have recently been added! Check website for the most up to date and times.

Skate rentals are available for $3.00

Harman Park Warming House is closed for the season due to warm temperatures.

The Community Center is open for activities! Please call 354-3212 or email castnu@newulmtel.net with questions. To order meals for shut ins, takeout and in person congregate dining, call 359-2243.
