Park & Rec Report

Hermann Swim Club starts March 17, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 28. This program provides swimmers the opportunity to improve swim strokes, build muscle, speed, strength and endurance. Participants must have passed Level 4 Swim Lessons and be at least 8 to participate. Register online or at the Rec Center.

Silly Science and Tiny Tot Science mini camps will be offered March 17 for ages 3-9. Information available at newulmmn.gov

Adult Pottery and Ceramics Classes offered in March and May please view in our brochure or newulmmn.gov Register online or at the Rec Center.

Fitness Fun Day will be offered Sunday, March 29 from 1-5 p.m. Rec. Center will be open, free of charge for individuals and families to swim, play basketball, gym games or walk the track! Refreshments will be served! This event is Co-sponsored by Park and Rec, New Ulm Medical Center and Physicians Group of New Ulm

Archery Classes begin in April! Register online or at the Rec Center.

Spring Garage Sale at the Civic Center, Saturday, April 4, 8 a.m.- noon. Peruse both arenas for this mega sale!

No ice at the Civic Center from March 15 through April 17. Please visit the Shows during March!

Self Paced Triathlon will run April 8 through May 15. Competitors choose which category to complete within 40 days to reach their goal. Activity miles may be completed in or outdoors. You do not need to be a member of the Rec Center to take part in the triathlon. Divisions include Ultra Ironman (5.2 mile or 183 laps of swim, 52 mile run/walk, 220 mile bike), Ironman (2.6 mile or 92 laps of swim, 26 mile run/walk, 110 mile bike), Tinman (1.3 mile or 46 laps of swim, 13 mile run/walk, 55 mile bike) Olympic (.9 mile or 33 laps of swim, 6.2 mile run/walk, 24 mile bike) Sprint (750 meter or 17 laps of swim, 3.1 mile run/walk, 12.4 mile bike). Register online or at the Rec Center.

PreK Open Gym Wednesdays and Fridays from 9-11 a.m. Run, chase and burn off energy! Play with balls, scooters, hula hoops, parachutes and more! Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Open Pickleball at Rec Center Mondays and Thursdays from 12-2:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Fridays 1-2:30 p.m. and Saturdays 10-11:30 a.m. Memberships, Punch cards, cards or Daily Admission apply.

Tot Swim is held the first and third Fridays of the month. This is an opportunity to Swim and play with your tot in the shallow part of the pool. Toys are provided and tot slide will be open. Whirlpool is closed during this time. Admission is $2.75/tot.

Glockenspiel is experiencing technical difficulties. A new controller is coming soon, which we believe will resolve these issues.

German Park Amphitheater is in great need of improvement! Over $1.2M is needed, $800,000 has already been raised. Fundraising for this project continues. You can help transform it into the area’s premier Outdoor Performing Arts venue. Any size of donation is accepted and greatly appreciated. Donor names will be inscribed in the amphitheater. This project is a perfect way to honor your loved one, friend, family, business or any of life’s celebrations. Donations should be made payable to City of New Ulm Amphitheater and mailed to the Park and Rec. Dept., 122 S. Garden Street, New Ulm. Riverside Environmental Learning Center located in Riverside Park is open Saturdays 1 to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 12 to 4 p.m. or by appointment (Please call Ron at 507-766-5770.)
