BIRTHS IN COUNTRY ARE WELL IN LEAD OF DEATH TOTAL

No Need Or Worry About Race Suicide After This Review.

CLERK OF COURT FILES HIS ANNUAL REPORT

——–

Shows Better Than Two To

One Gain In Twelve Months.

——–

Race suicide need not be a worrying Brown County. For every death taking place during the year 1925, there were more than two births.

Annual Report

This is revealed by the annual report received this week by Clerk of Court Carl P. Manderfeld from A. J. Chesley, executive officer and registrar of the Minnesota department of health and vital statistics.

During the year there were 619 births in the county and 286 deaths. This is a better showing than the year 1924 when 507 births and 270 deaths were reported. New Ulm did not hold up to the average of more than two to one prevailing in the County with its 243 births and 159 deaths. This is largely due to the fact that all deaths occurring in the local hospitals, irrespective of the residence of the deceased, are reported for New Ulm. This accounts also for the large number of births compared with other municipalities in the county, because all births occurring in the maternity wards of the local hospitals are reported for New Ulm.

Comparisons

Evan reported an even break, 1 birth and one death. Cobden reported no deaths and 2 births. The best record was made by Mulligan which reported only 1 death to its 19 births. The next best record was made by Bashaw which reported 18 births to its 2 deaths Linden’s record is also very good, 20 births to 2 deaths.

Springfield, altho quite a bit smaller in population than Sleepy Eye, reported 40 births to Sleepy Eye’s 39 and had only 17 deaths to Sleepy Eye’s 29. Of the townships Home had the largest number of births with 24. Cottonwood, considerably smaller than Home, has the right to the claim of being the banner township for births, 23 having been reported for 1925. The number of deaths in that town were 6.

Blue Earth County reported a total of 771 births and 371 deaths for 1925.
