——–

Attorney Albert H. Enersen, well-known resident and attorney of Lamberton, was named as one of the judges of this district, Friday, by Governor Theo. Christianson, to succeed Judge

A. B. Gislason, who recently resigned, to enter a law partnership with Attorney James H. Hall of Marshall. The appointment was in conformity with the desires of the Ninth District Bar association members, who convened in this city following the announcement of the proposed resignation of Judge Gislason.

Albert H. Enersen, the appointee to succeed Judge Gislason, is a native of Brown county, having been born in Bashaw township, October 4,1871. His parents were the second settlers in that township. The family resided there until the subject of this sketch was about fourteen years of age, when they removed to Springfield, where Mr. Enersen attended school for several years. In 1889 he taught school in North Star township and the following year in the home district in Bashaw township.

Mr. Enersen attended high school in Mankato from the fall of 1891, until the spring of 1894, when he graduated from the Latin course. He was principal of the West Mankato school for four years, and during this time studied law from books secured from the firm of

Goes to Lamberton

Going to Lamberton in 1898, he studied law in an office there until 1900, when he was admitted to the bar, and has been in practice at Lamberton since. He has been a clerk of the Lamberton school board for twenty-five years and acted as county attorney of Redwood county continuously from 1910 to 1923. He was married to Miss Ethel Rice of Mankato, in 1902, and has two sons, Burnham, a Junior at Carleton college, and Lawerence, attending high school at Lamberton

Attorney Enersen is well qualified to fill the position of judge. He has made a merited success in his profession and the fact that he was the almost unanimous choice of district as a the attorneys of the successor to Judge Gislason, is evidence sufficient of the high esteem in which he is held by his fellow practitioners.

For some year she was associated with Congressman Frank Clague in the practice of law at Lamberton. The Redwood Falls Sun states Mr. Enersen was one of the best county attorneys Redwood county ever had. The family will continue to reside in Lamberton for the present and Mr. Enersen will hold court in chambers at Marshall and Ivanhoe, between court sessions for the convenience of attorneys and litigants.

Partner of James H. Hall

Judge A.B. Gislason was appointed district judge by Governor J. A. O. Preus in 1923, following the creation of a second judgeship in this district and his endorsement by the bar association. At the general election in November, 1924, he was elected for the full term. Since his appointment he has divided the work of his district with Judge I. M. Olsen of this city.

With his retirement from the bench on February 1, Judge Gislason will form a partnership with Attorney James H. Hall of Marshall. This law firm will be an exceptionally strong one. Attorney Hall has served as county attorney of Lyon county, as state senator and is now city attorney of the city of Marshall. He is recognized over the district as a strong and able practitioner.

Two Judges Up for Election

Judge Enersen’s appointment is for the balance of this year. If he desires to continue as judge he must become a candidate for election at the November general election. Judge Olsen’s term also expires this year, and he will be a candidate for re-election. This being the case two judges will be elected in this district this fall. Judge Olsen was unanimously endorsed for re-election at the recent meeting of the district bar association at Marshall, as was stated recently in the Journal.
