Springfield Pitted
Against Hendricks.

Minnesota high school debating teams will start this week on the second round of the interschool debates, which will eventually lead to the championship contest in the spring. The time since the holiday vacation has been spent by the various teams in brushing up and studying the question.
New Ulm will meet Mankato at the New Ulm high school auditorium next a Monday evening. The local team will defend the affirmative side of the argument. It will be remembered that the local team defeated Redwood Falls in a two to one victory recently, but had the negative side of the child labor question. The members of the New Ulm team are Fred Lippmann, Henry Somsen and Helen Hage.
South high of Minneapolis finds itself in a peculiar position this year, as it is the only team in the fifth district, which is entered in the contest, consequently has no team to match with until the inter-district debates start.
In This District
Wells meets Delavan; Worthington versus Fulda and Springfield versus Hendricks are scheduled to take place this evening. Hendricks will come to Springfield. New Ulm and Mankato will debate Monday, as stated above. Windom has the bye.
In the first round of the series in this district Wells in the affirmative defeated Sherburn, 2 to 1, while Worthington whitewashed the Lakefield negative team, 3 to 0. Windom, Delavan, Mankato, New Ulm, Springfield and Fulda all defending the negative, beat Jackson, Winnebago, Lake Crystal, Redwood Falls, Mountain Lake and Slayton, respectively. The Fulda-Slayton tilt went to Fulda by default.
