BOND FORD SEDAN STOLEN SECOND TIME
Police Find Car Abandoned Near Fortwengler Hill In Ditch.
——–
For the second time within a year the Ford Sedan of H. W. Bond has been stolen only to be recovered within a few hours after the theft. Mr. Bond parked the car in front of his residence on South Minnesota street Sunday evening about nine o’clock. At 11:30 it was discovered that the car was gone. The owner immediately notified the police who took up the trail after it had been learned that the car had been pushed from the front of the house. As the authorities suspected certain parties residing south of New Ulm, they started out that way. The tracks of the car led to the top of the Fortwengler hill and there it was found that the parties had abandoned the car and had started it down hill and let it go. The Ford jumped the grade about three-fourths of the way down, went over a 10 foot embankment and landed on its wheels in the ditch. The machine struck a fence post and damaged one of the head lights. Other than that there was no damage to the car. The car was driven back to New Ulm the next morning.
Second Offense
Last July the same car was stolen and was found abandoned five miles south of town. The second escapade may be the work of the same parties and the police are continuing their investigation. Whether the cold temperature of Sunday night prompted the parties to take the car so they would not have to walk to their home, or whether there is some other motive for their action, has not as yet been determined. The car is fully covered with insurance and in any instance Mr.Bond is protected.
