Playing before a fall house the Co. A Dramatic Club greatly pleased their audience with their presentation of “Potash and Perlmutter In the Cloak and Suit Business.” The male members of the cast were all selected from members of Co. A, while several of New Ulm’s many beautiful girls assisted in the female roles.
The characters of “Abe” and “Mawruss” were played by Irwin E. Cordes and Raymond J. Amann respectively and the two boys showed much talent in the portrayal of these famous characters. They provided many screams with their mirthful situations and arguments which they continually worked themselves into. The play was one of the best comedies ever put on by local talent inasmuch as the Jewish characterization requires considerable practice to imitate.Henry Feldmann, the villain of the play, was portrayed creditably by Wm. Drusch while Leo Keckstein as Boris Andreiff and Alfred Lindmeyer as Marks Pazinsky both played their parts remarkably well. Rose Wilts-check, portraying the part of Ruth Goldman, designer for the firm of Potash and Perlmutter, Hazelle Macdonald as Mrs. Potash, Hildegard Lieb as Miss Potash and Rose Amann as Miss Cohen had the leading female roles and all performed their work creditably and in justification to their director, Benedict Marti.
Proceeds For Good Cause
Considerable of the proceeds of the play and the program advertising will be turned over to the Fire department for use in their fund to cover the expenses of the big fire convention which will be held here next year.
