WOMAN KILLED AS AUTO HITS RUM CAR
Four Injured in Crash, Which Occurred Friday Afternoon Near St. James.–Two Iowa Men Held Until Coroner’s Verdict of Accidental Death, Was Returned Monday.Mrs. Paul Klein, Wife of Prominent Farmer, Dies of Injuries.

Mrs. Paul Klein, wife of a prominent farmer near St. James, was killed Friday afternoon, when the automobile in which she was riding with her husband collided with a machine which police said contained a large quantity of liquor, three miles west of that city. Four persons received injuries. The two occupants of the alleged liquor car were arrested and held for investigation.
Roman and Dan Sandmeyer, Mrs. Klein’s brothers, who were also riding with her, received painful injuries. The two who were riding in the other car received minor injuries.
The accident occurred at an intersection of state highway No. 16 and a township road. Both cars were swept into a ditch and wrecked. Mrs.Klein’s head was caught between the door and the body of her car, causing instant death. Her husband escaped uninjured.
Mrs. Klein is the daughter of Steve Sandmeyer, a prominent farmer five miles west of St. James. She resided near Echols, six miles southwest of St. James. Surviving are her husband and an infant, her parents and two sisters.
Accidental Death
A verdict of “accidental death”‘ was returned by the coroner’s jury, composed of St. James business men, Monday, as the cause of the death of Mrs. Klein.
Sam Stearns, of Sioux City, Ia., was driving the other car, and was accompanied by Morris Seligman, a son of a Jewish rabbi, of Sioux City.
