Librarians with master’s degrees join staff of new public library

Two women with library science degrees have joined the New Ulm public library staff fulltime in preparation for the move into the larger, new building.
“We will be more departmentalized there,” said Christine Dawson, chief librarian.
Mrs. Lynn Blaylock, 1024 S. Payne, will be children’s librarian.
She joined the library staff last year on a parttime basis, but recently became fulltime.
Mrs. Blaylock has a bachelor of library science degree from the University of Illinois; a master’s degree in media and technology from Mankato State University. The latter is Mankato’s name for library science.
She worked in the public library systems in three cities in Texas-Austin, Bryan and Port Arthur.
Mrs. Blaylock, whose husband is with Supersweet in New Ulm and Courtland, has three daughters, Ann, a junior at New Ulm High School; Cathy, doing occupational therapy at Phoenix, Ariz., and Sandy, a senior at the University of Wisconsin.
MS. JO ANNE WECH, 1314 Oak Street,will be in charge of the circulation desk. She started the job Oct. 13.
Jo Anne is a graduate of Cathedral High School, then took a bachelor’s degree in library science at College of St. Theresa. She received her master’s degree in library science at George Peabody College, Nashville,Tenn.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wech of New Ulm.
OTHERS fulltime on the library staff include Mrs. Gilbert Albrecht,assistant to the children’s librarian; Mrs. Esther Radke, assistant librarian, and Mrs. Ruth Wagner, non-fiction and reference specialist. Regular parttime employees are Marilyn Watchke and Karen Neumann. In addition there are some pages on the staff parttime.
