During the year 1924, there were 2,241,022 gallons of gasoline shipped into Brown county for sale. The amount of kerosene was 499,010 gallons, or a combined total of 2,740,032 gallons. The consumption of gasoline and kerosene is on the increase, as in 1923 the figures were, gasoline, 2,037,032 gallons; kerosene, 413,181gallons. There were 16,299 gallons of distillate disposed of in the county during 1924.
According to the report of Hjalmar Nilsson, chief oil inspector, New Ulm is located in District No. 18, with headquarters at St. Peter. The tank stations in this district are located at St. Peter, New Ulm, Nicollet and Courtland.
Tank stations at Sleepy Eye, Springfield, Comfrey, Evan and Essig, are in District No. 17. The headquarters are at Morgan. In addition to the Brown county stations, tank stations at Morgan and Clements are located in this district. The tank station at Hanska is situated in District No. 10.The headquarters of this district is at Truman and the other stations are,Truman, Fairmont, Sherburn, Triumph, Ceylon, Granada, Welcome, Dunnell, Monterey, St. James, Madelia, Lewisville, Odin and La Salle.
