Beautiful Chorus Number And Clever Comedy In “All Aboard”.
——–
Rehearsals have started for the home talent play “All Aboard” which will be given under the auspices of the Turner Ladies Society at the Turner Hall Thursday evening, October 28. Miss Betty B. Brent, director for the John B. Rogers Producing company arrived here Saturday and has been ever since getting the chorus work and the characters for the play started on their parts. The plot of the play is a most amusing one and there is not a dull moment in the entire production. Gorgeous costumes will be worn by New Ulm’s prettiest girls who are taking part in the choruses and everyone will enjoy this musical comedy.
Synopsis
The action of “All Aboard” takes place on board the S. S. Florida, and the cleverly written play has to do with two young college boys who are in love with the same girl. One of them has the misfortune of losing four of his teeth in a football game. The lost teeth have a lot to do with the play and the comedy situations, of which there are a-plenty, will keep you laughing from the time the curtain rises on the first act until it falls on the last.
Musical Numbers
Thru out the play beautiful musical numbers will be sung by the best talent in this city. One of the features of the production is the clever dancing and singing of the chorus groups. These groups will wear costumes furnished by the Company and no expense has been spared when it comes to costumes and scenery. Tunes that you simply cannot forget, catchy swinging airs that you want to whistle, features the music in “All Aboard.””Antidotes,” “Bashful Bumble-Bee,””Sweetheart In Every Port,” “At Last My Dream Has Come True,”and “Overalls” are some of the song hits.
Making Splendid Progress
Miss Brent has expressed herself as being more than pleased with the way things are coming along. Principals in the cast are fast becoming familiar with their lines in the big entertainment and the chorus groups all appear like “old timers’ in picking up the dance steps and are displaying perfect ease and grace.
By Monday evening the chorus work and the principal parts will be so well developed that the entire production will be gone thru. It is probable that a dress rehearsal will be given before the play is presented and the opening night the play will be so perfected that the audience will witness a production that is really professional, put over in a professional way by amateurs.
Seats will be on sale at Haag’s Rexall Drug Store after Saturday morning. Get your tickets from some of the performers who will be more than happy to supply you and reserve your seats early for it looks as tho the house would be sold out in short order.
The committee in charge of the play consists of Miss Elfrieda Toberer, president of the ladies society, Mrs. Albert Pfaender, Mrs. Armin Heymann, and Mrs. Albert Steinhauser. They wish to express their appreciation of the assistance given them by the business men who have provided the funds for the publicity work. This issue of the Review contains the complete synopsis and the cast of characters, as well as the announcements of the business people who are boosting for “All Aboard.” Don’t miss the chance to spend an evening laughing with your friends in hearty enjoyment of clean fun produced by the nice young people of our own home town.
