The first day, Monday, of school in the public schools of New Ulm showed that the attendance was 690. This is an increase of 50 over that upon the opening day of school last year, when 640 pupils reported for study.

The enrollment in the Lutheran Parochial school also showed an increase of 14, when compared with that of opening day last year. The total attendance Monday was 228; last year it was 214.

Catholic Schools Open Tuesday.

The Catholic high and parochial schools will commence the fall term next Tuesday morning. It is anticipated the enrollment in these institutions will be as large, if not larger than upon the first day of last year. The total attendance in the Holy Trinity parochial school upon the opening day last year was 485. Of this number 77 were in the high school.

The attendance at St. Mary’s parochial school upon opening day in 1924 was 234.

How Pupils Are Distributed.

The total attendance in the high school upon opening day, Monday, was 232, including 12 in the normal training department. According to the files of the Journal the total attendance the first day of school, last year, was 225, inclusive of 10 in the normal training department. This is an increase of 7.

The enrollment in the various classes of high school Monday, follows: Seniors, 51; Juniors, 62; Sophomores, 54 and Freshmen, 53. Superintendent F. B. Andreen states that the attendance in the high school building as well as in the several ward buildings will be increased somewhat during the present as well as next week.

Emerson Building.

In the Emerson building the enrollment on opening day was 215. Last year there were 200 pupils present. The attendance in the grades in this building follows: Eighth, 45; 7th, 51; 6th, 17; 5th, 14; 4th, 17; 3rd,14; 2nd, 20; 1st, 19, and opportunity, 18. In the Washington building there was a total attendance of 103, Monday. This is an increase of 2 over last year, when there were 101 present upon the first day of school. The enrollment in the different grades in this building follows: Sixth, 13; 5th, 20; 4th, 19; 3rd,14; 2nd, 13; 1st, 12, and kindergarten, 12.

The enrollment in the Lincoln building was 118. Last year, upon opening day it was 93. This is an increase of 25. The attendance in the different grades in this building follows: Sixth, 17; 5th, 9; 4th, 16; 3rd, 20; 2nd, 13; 1st, 15 and kindergarten, 28.In the Franklin building there were 22 pupils in attendance Monday. This is one more than upon opening day last year. In the third grade there are 4; 2nd, 9 and 1st, 9.

There was an increase in attendance upon opening day in the high school as well as every ward building as compared with the first day of school last year.

Lutheran Parochial School.

The attendance in the various grades in the Lutheran parochial school follows: Eighth,26; 7th, 20; 6th, 26; 5th, 36; 4th, 25; 3rd, 23; practice school, 36 and 1st, 36. As stated above the total enrollment was 228 an increase of 14 over that of last year upon the first day of school. The attendance will be increased as school progresses.”
