The bowling season in New Ulm was formally ushered in at the Concordia clubhouse, Tuesday evening of this week, when quite a number of local maple artists assembled to “warm up.” There were no official games played on the opening evening, but all of the alleys were occupied until a late hour, in spite of the warm weather.
Popular Innovation.
The automatic pin setters, installed at the Concordia club house during the past summer, proved a popular innovation from the outset. In addition to setting the pins more accurately than it is usually done by hand, this is accomplished in considerably less time than that required under the old method. With a little practice, the pin boys will be able to handle the new machines very efficiently, so as to eliminate delays.
City League “Opener.”
Due to the installation of the automatic pin setters, which materially reduce the time necessary to set the pins, the City Bowling league will roll all of its four weekly matches in one evening, namely, Tuesdays. In order to accomplish this, two shifts have been arranged, the first beginning at 7 o’clock and the other at 9 o’clock.
Lineup for Initial Matches.
The lineup for the initial frays, next Tuesday evening, is as follows: Sprengers-Schleuders on alleys 1and 2, 7 o’clock shift; Brick & Tile-Reviews on alleys 3 and 4, 7 o’clock shift; Cys Counts on alleys 1 and 2, 9 o’clock shift, and Wicherskis-Hackbarths on alleys 3 and 4, 9 o’-clock shift. The season’s schedule of the City league appears elsewhere in this issue of the Journal.
Home League Starts Season.
The Home Bowling league of this city will begin its 1925-1926 season at the Concordia clubhouse, next Thursday evening, September 10, with the second match scheduled for the following night. The official games will be rolled Thursday and Friday evenings of each week.
Home League’s First Matches.
The eight teams of the Home league have been lined up as follows for the opening matches of the season: Frenzels-Candy Kitchens and American Express-Constructions, next Thursday evening; Graff Autos-Dodge Specials and Minnesota Central Creameries-Muesing Drugs, next Friday evening.
