Bowling activity is beginning to agitate maple artists in New Ulm. Hazy days, symbolical of approaching fall, has the effect of causing the pin shooters to contemplate the coming campaign on the local alleys with favor. There are rumors floating around that a Special league will be formed, consisting of four teams. The teams will compete in the tournaments during the season and expect to cut a wide swath in the bowling world in this part of the northwest.
“Cy”and the Sleeve.
There are also other rumors that “Cy” Groebner has something up his sleeve and will surprise the boys, when he trots out a team of hook artists, which contemplates taking all the gravy during the coming season.
New Ulm is the biggest bowling small city in the United States, that is there are more bowlers to the square yard here than in any other like city on the map. New Ulm always is represented at the bowling tournament in the Twin Cities by a large quota of teams and one of the best tournaments in the northwest is always pulled off in here before the season closes.
Other Leagues.
Besides the Special league of four teams there will likely be City and Home leagues organized, consisting of eight teams each.
The coming season, which will open about the middle of September, is expected to be a most active one.
