Sixteen Young People Completed Course at St. Mary’s Catholic School the Same Evening.

The Holy Trinity school auditorium was crowded to capacity during the commencement exercises of the New Ulm Catholic high school, Sunday evening, when 15 young people, having completed the four-year course, were presented with their diplomas,as follows: Henry Altmann, Albert Blenemann, Leander Dauer, Erwin Fast, Marcus Franta, Raymond Gewerth, William Helget, Victor Sondag, Rose Amann, Marle Bongaarts, Alvarez Groebner, Rose Helget, Evangellne Miller, Viola Ranweller and Eleonora Tastel.
Commencement Program
There were several original numbers on the commencement program, which opened with a processional, after which a chorus sang “The Flag Without a Stain.” The address of welcome was delivered by Leander Dauer, after which an allegory, “The Pilgrim’s Quest for Happiness,” was rendered by five Seniors, representing different characters, as follows: “Pilgrim,” William Helget; “Wealth,”Marie Bongaarts; “Fame,” Rose Amann; “Beauty,” Alvarez Groebner, and “Religion,” Eleanora Tastel. Following a musical selection, “The Early Christian Martyrs” was presented by Henry Altmann, as introduction; Albert Bienemann, as Lucius, prefect of Rome; Rose Helget, as Mercia, a noble Christian maiden, and Viola Ranweiler, as Felicia, Mercia’s friend.
Another musical selection was rendered, followed by a pantomime and tableau, “Rock of Ages,” by the Girls of 1925 and “The Christian Soul” by Evangeline Miller. After another musical selection, Raymond Gewerth spoke the words of farewell; the class of 1925 sang a farewell song and the diplomas were awarded by Rev. R Schlinkert. The commencement address was delivered by Attorney Linus Glotzbach of this city and a school song and musical selection closed the program. The musical number were directed by Rev. J. A. Kern, organist and choirmaster of Holy Trinity church.
The Eighth grade graduating exercises of St. Mary’s Catholic school were held the same evening at St. Mary’s hall, which was crowded to capacity for the event. Sixteen young people received their diplomas, as follows: Joseph Brey, Harold Epple, Carl Hogen,Hilda Abraham, Anna Dusel, Lauretta Esser, Anna Gassner, Estella Glasman, Sophie Groebner, Lillian Huelskamp, Florence Kurth, Imelda Ochs, Elsie Ries, Luella Schaeffler, Lillian Scheman and Veronica Schugel.
An appropriate program was rendered as follows: Musical selection; song, “Veil of Eve,” by the graduates; “Search for Happiness” by the girl graduates; reading of the prize essay,”The Advantage of a Catholic High School Education,” by Elsie Ries; farewell song by the class; “The First Te Deum” by the girl graduates; vocal duet by Sophie, Groebner and Lillian Huelskamp; valedictory address by Elsie Ries; commencement address by Rev. Plaschko of Sleepy Eye; address by Rev. J. Portelle, chaplain of the Loretto hospital; presentation of diplomas by Rev. A. J. Losleben, and song by the graduating class.
The graduates received solemn holy communion duríng high mass at St. Mary’s church, Sunday morning.
