Tracy’s Community Festival Thursday and Friday July 31 and August 1, will not only be a community affair, but it will be participated in by many other cities and towns in Southwest Minnesota. As announced last week, the entire proceeds from the celebration will go into the fund for the relief of the tornado victims.

State Wide Affair.

Thirty-one cities and Lincoln,Lyon,Murray, Redwood and Cottonwood counties are co-operating to make the celebration the biggest thing of the kind attempted in the state. Four prominent speakers are on the program. They are: Governor J.A.O. Preus, Floyd B. Olson, Theodore P. Christenson, and Mrs. S. M. Hansen. Real entertainment is promised for every minute by those in charge of the celebration

There will be a prize bowling by citizens of Crent, horseshoe tournament between Lamberton, Windom,Canby, and Pipestone; water fight between the fire departments of Walnut Grove and Tracy; kittenball, Luean versus Amiret and many other sporting events are on the program.

Boxing matches, baseball games, band concerts, prize bowling games, vaudeville, flying circus, exhibition, free acts of various kinds,a pavement dance, and a beauty contest are on the program thus far. Other features are still to be added which with those already secured will provide one of the biggest celebrations this section of the state has ever seen.

New Ulm’s Part.

According to an announcement of one of the large dailies in Minnesota, that plant will print 10,000 copies of their publication which will contain pictures and information on the tornado which passed through/the state, devastating property and making homeless the hundreds of people for whom this celebration is being given.

The papers will be sold by young ladies in the various cities and towns in Minnesota for a small sum, not less than ten cents, and for any amount over that which will be given for them. The proceeds will be put with the fund for the suffering people. The young ladies from New Ulm who will represent our city in that venture are the Misses Florence Hartl and Louise Esser.

New Ulm will also do her bit in the celebration, responding at once to the request to help furnish the entertainment. It has been arranged that two classes of the New Ulm Turnverein will go to Tracy Thursday to give exhibitions in physical training work under the direction of Prof. Fred Naumann. The Actives, a class of advanced young men will give three numbers, while the young ladies class will give two numbers. It is urged that as many residents from New Ulm as can do so take time to attend the Tracy Fete with the Turner classes and make the delegation from this city a good one.

Marshall will be represented in the entertainment by the pavement dance, which will be put on by the Marshall Business Men’s Association. The pavement dance will be given both evenings of the celebration.

Minneota has decided to raffle a Willis-Knight car during the course of the celebration.

Tracy Business Houses Close.

Tracy business houses, with the exception of ice cream parlors and restaurants, will close at noon both days. Those place remaining open will donate their receipts to the tornado fund. And other towns are requested to follow the example of those in Tracy and close each day in order that the attendance may be at the maximum.

The Minneapolis Commerce and Civic Association has promised to both days a complete bill will be given every hour and fifteen minutes. In addition to this many other acts have performances on the streets.

Ten Bands.

Ten bands will furnish the music. They are: Rochester, Marshall, Garvin,Lake Benton, Springfield, Lamberton, Russell, Lake Wilson, Slayton and Tracy.

Boxing Bouts

The St. Paul Association has provided the card of boxing bouts. Those the first day, July 31, will be amateur matches. Two bouts are scheduled for the second day, when Jakie Snook and One-round Hogan will meet and Brown and Schauer go ten rounds. Mike Gibbons and Mike Collins of St. Paul will be on hand to referee twenty-two rounds of slashing prize fighting.

The baseball game the first day will be between Clarkfield and Lismore. Rochester and Shurburne of Southern Minnesota League will play the second day.

Band concerts will be given both days by the Lyon County Band of the American Legion, which will be composed of approximately 100 pieces.

The Pioneer Press of St. Paul will send a Flying Circus which will make flights the second day of the program.

There will be a beauty contest too. Full details of this are not available, although it is known that two girls from each town in the county may be entered. Information regarding the contest may be obtained from Dr. A.D. Hoidale of Tracy.

Each automobile entering the city will be charged some price not yet definitely decided upon. But it is certain, according to Attorney Mitchell, that this charge will be made only on the car, the number of persons making no difference.

Personal contributions to the general fund for the relief of the storm sufferers may still be,made either to H. E. Samuelson, Treasurer of the Storm Relief Committee, State Capitol, St. Paul, or to, August Durrenberger, Chairman, Marshall, Minn.
