Teletype information available to police

NEW ULM POLICE CLERK Elaine Abel tries out the newly-acquired police teletype as Chief Richard Guldan watches. The teletype will cost the city a rental of $213 per month. Up until now the only access police have had to teletype information has been through the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, which has a teletype machine on which the county pays the rental cost. The city secured its own teletype “‘to guarantee access to teletype information necessary for police work on a regular and constant basis,” City Manager Richard Salvati said at the time the 1974 city budget was discussed.
